DotBeads is a mobile app that turns a picture into a bead-weaving pattern. This policy explains what the app and this website handle, and why.

Who is responsible

DotBeads is published by Anton Baranov, as a sole proprietor, in Quebec, Canada. For any question or request: support@dotbeads.app.

In short

  • DotBeads has no account and no backend that stores your data. Everything is saved only on your device.
  • The app uses no analytics, advertising or tracking tools. The only network activity is the Pro purchase check with the app store and RevenueCat.
  • We never sell or share your information.

What the app stores on your device

  • Patterns. Your saved patterns, their settings (size, technique, colours) and thumbnails, kept in a local SQLite database.
  • Pictures you pick. When you choose a picture, a copy is placed in the app's own storage so the pattern can be regenerated.
  • Settings. For example your appearance (Auto, Light or Dark) and language (English or Français).

This information is used only to run the app. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.

Permissions

  • Photos. Used only to open the picture you choose.
  • Camera and microphone. Not used.

Files you export or import

With Pro, you can export a pattern as a .dotbead.json file through your device's share sheet, and import one the same way. Data leaves your device only if you choose to share an exported file, and then it goes where you send it, under that service's own terms. Importing reads only the file you pick.

Colour data

The bead catalogue is bundled inside the app. Colour data comes from craft-color-codes by MakeBead (code MIT, data CC BY 4.0). Nothing is downloaded while you use the app.

Purchases

DotBeads Pro is a one-time purchase through the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). Apple or Google handles the payment, and DotBeads never sees your card or billing details. To confirm that Pro is active, the app uses RevenueCat, a purchase service. It receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase status and basic device information needed to validate the purchase. It does not receive your pictures or patterns. The app checks your purchase status with them, including when you have not bought Pro.

This website

The dotbeads.app website uses no tracking cookies, analytics or advertising. Like any host, our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs (for example the IP address and time of a visit) for security and reliability. If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you.

Retention and deletion

  • Local data stays on your device as long as you keep the app. Deleting DotBeads erases all of it.
  • You can delete a saved pattern in the app at any time.
  • Files you exported and shared are copies outside the app; we cannot delete them for you.
  • Your Pro purchase is tied to your Apple ID or Google account and can be restored from Settings in the app.

Children

DotBeads is a general-audience craft app. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
